I am always excited when I get an inquiry to photograph a wedding on Mt.Hood. The natural and majestic beauty of Mt.Hood is hard to beat and when you combine that with the fun and rustic elements of Mt.Hood Ski Bowl, you end up with an awesome wedding and great wedding photos! There are not many wedding venues that guests get the opportunity to ride chair lifts or better yet, take an alpine slide down the mountain!
Having photographed a handful of weddings at Mt.Hood Ski Bowl, I know that there's quite a few logistics that must be carefully planned out pre-wedding to make sure that the day flows properly and that people are where they need to be at the right time. For example, the guys typically get ready at Government Camp and need to allow plenty of time to take the chair lift up to the mid-mountain for the ceremony and bridal party portraits. If a couple wants to take the chair lift up to the Upper Bowl for a first look (which I highly recommend), then we need to allow for plenty of time riding the chair lift up and down (you don't want to be late for your own wedding). I love working with my wedding couples to make sure we have a well planned timeline that allows for plenty of time to capture photos showcasing the beauty of the mountain.
Robyn and Kevin's Mt.Hood Ski Bowl wedding was absolutely breathtaking and the perfect location for this adventurous couple. From riding chair lifts to the Upper Bowl for a dramatic and romantic first look to unparalleled views of Mt. Hood for the ceremony and taking the alpine slide down to the reception, this was an amazing wedding! Take a peek at this gorgeous mountain wedding:
